In 2025, Gorizia and its Slovenian neighbour, Nova Gorica, will jointly hold the title of European Capital of Culture—Join us for our IATM (CER) AGM followed by Post Tour in this extraordinary location & discover why it is known as the city of Nicknames.
Nova Gorica, the youngest city in Slovenia, has deep historical and everyday links with Gorizia on the Italian side of the border. Nestled in a landscape of fertile hills, orchards and vineyards of the Brda and Vipava valleys, where the emerald green Soča River meanders from the heart of the Alps and where the mysterious Karst and the sea are just a glance away, we will explore this vibrant area that has flourished since the end of World War II. A full day immersion in Gorizia´s surroundings, discovering the region where the Dinarides collide with the Alps, visiting Solkan with its famous bridge, pilgraming to the Franscisian Monastery of Kostananjevica, where fierce fighting took place in WW1 to the vineyards, abundant orchards & olives groves of Brda. Next morning is check out and start of post tour.
The following day we head on to Trieste: we depart Nova Gorica & head for Triest. Enroute we shall discover the beauty of Miren in the Viplav Valley, to the stone village of Goče - architectural gem & monument of Slovenian cultural heritage. It´s then onto Stanjel- one of the oldest and most picturesque settlements in this majestic Karst region.
